Welcome! Here you will find a compilation of stories, experiences, and learnings selected to demonstrate the compentencies, personal traits, and deep sector-specific knowledge identified by Jean Crawford, Ivey Business Journal, May/June 2010 in the article "Profiling the Non-Profit Leader of Tomorrow". But before we get started, allow me to introduce myself...

come from

I am a senior at Kansas State University studying Family Studies and Human Services and Nonprofit Leadership. I am the daughter of two teachers and the sister of two younger brothers. I am a granddaughter, a niece, a cousin, a friend. I treasure all of these titles and relationships. Some of my favorite memories growing up are sitting on my grandpa’s lap and feeling him breathe, falling asleep to my dad’s voice and a nightly bedtime tale, car rides with my mom where we never bothered to turn on the radio but talked the whole way about dreams to change the world, laughing uncontrollably with my brothers at the dinner table about everything and nothing…moments frozen in time when I knew without a doubt that I was loved and cherished, that at least for that split second I was the center of someone’s world.

If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.

During my time as a Wildcat I have strived to be incredibly intentional about investing in a few places at a deep level. Over the last four years, the places where I have invested the most energy, time, and effort have been in my academics, the Staley School of Leadership Studies, and Christian Challenge.

The stories people tell have a way of taking care of them. If stories come to you, care for them. And learn to give them away where they are needed. Sometimes a person needs a story more than food to stay alive.

We stand on the shoulders of giants and mistake the broadened view for our own.

As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.

This is what I would love for the pattern of my life to be--to see people, to be curious about their lives, and to be courageous enough to enter in. I do not intend to save the world. I believe that has already been done. I do want to take responsibility for the gifts that I've been given, for my areas of influence, for the impact of my life choices and actions, responsibility for my unearned privilege, and responsibility for the call to love the least of these.
